Educator & Artist
My name is Matthew Erdmans and I am a visual arts teacher in Salem, Oregon. I spent two years teaching in Salt Lake City before moving to Salem, Oregon and I really enjoy being involved with students learning ways to solve visual/creative problems. When not teaching, I have a small art business where I sell original paintings and vinyl stickers. I am also a potter and am working on making a body of work and eventually creating a pottery brand based in Salem. When I am not making art I spend my time camping, hiking, and exploring the gorgeous Pacific Northwest.
I believe technology and the visual arts can go hand in hand and by using technology appropriately, we can create meaningful educational experiences that challenge our students in ways we haven't done before. This portfolio is designed around some of the work that I have created over the past two years as a part time student. The work I created has been used in my middle school classroom and was created for the purpose of benefiting my students and to provide them with resources to help them create the best art they can.
